In a world crowded with cheap, disposable, imported products, it can feel hard to find a company that is devoted to making high quality goods that are built to last. And if that company also happens to make things in the United States of America? Well, that is the Whiteknuckler Brand way!
With a focus on classic designs, traditional materials, and real American craftsmanship, Whiteknuckler has been growing as a brand since 2013. Curious about how we got here? Keep reading for the story of how Whiteknuckler Brand came to be!

Roots in blacksmithing and a tragic spark
The origin of Whiteknuckler Brand can be traced back to 2011. The founder, Bear Haughton, had long been fascinated by blacksmithing and knife making. But it was a personal tragedy that truly galvanized the brand’s beginnings. After a friend died in a motorcycle accident, Bear forged some rail-spike knives to sell to raise money for the friend’s widow and children. To his surprise, the demand exceeded expectations and he sold every knife he made.
From there, Bear experimented more with forging and knife design, selling his creations to friends as he refined his techniques. Within two years of making his first knife, he chose to shift from being a maker to building a brand. Thus, Whiteknuckler Brand was born. With a focus on design, American manufacturing, classic style and drawing inspiration from the classic cars and motorcycles he loves, the brand has steadily grown into a full line of leather and steel goods.

Over a decade of growth
In 2013, the first version of the Whiteknuckler Brand website was launched, featuring its original C5 model knife. Since then, it has grown steadily and developed into a full line of knives and leather goods while never losing focus of its founding principles.
The brand describes its mission plainly: to craft timeless, American-made goods for “truckers, hot rodders, outdoors people, motorcyclists, climbers, and adventuring souls.” The aesthetic leans vintage and utilitarian, always with a balance of form and function. Throughout the years, Whiteknuckler Brand has expanded beyond its original designs to include culinary knives, belts, wallets, wool goods, hats, and other accessories — each one echoing the same commitment to design and high quality manufacturing.
Commitment to “Made in USA”
One of the pillars of Whiteknuckler Brand’s identity is their commitment to domestic manufacturing. From the steel used in its utility and culinary knives to the leather used in its sheaths and belts, materials are sourced from the United States.

This commitment is not superficial. At one point early on, frustrated by inconsistent quality and uncertain supply chains, the team decided to purchase their steel directly from U.S. mills — ordering 4,000 lbs in one go. As the brand has evolved, it became possible to move into higher grade steel for its knives and the brand now primarily uses 154CM steel, a high carbon, aerospace grade stainless steel that makes for a razor sharp edge.
On the leather and accessories side, Whiteknuckler Brand prefers full grain leather and the highest quality finishes — even their signature trucker caps are cut and sewn in the United States! By using robust materials and having full oversight of their supply chain and production methods, you can be sure that any item bearing the Whiteknuckler Brand logo is made with quality in mind and design at heart.
Design, Quality, and the Signature Edge
The products made by Whiteknuckler Brand have evolved as the brand has grown. The brand’s initial offering was its C5 model knife, whose design helped propel the brand. With its curved blade and signature finger hole, the original C5 model measured 5” long and came with what has become Whiteknuckler Brand’s signature (and now patented!) leather sheath which can be worn both horizontally and vertically.

Following the success of the C5 model, Whiteknuckler Brand launched its C7 model which really pushed Whiteknuckler Brand into overdrive! Measuring 7” tip to tail and featuring its signature finger hole and jimping for grip, the C7 quickly became a best seller. Building on that success, Whiteknuckler Brand subsequently launched its Model 3, a classic looking drop point knife that came with its signature riveted sheath.
In the past few years, Whiteknuckler Brand has also launched a full line of culinary knives, offering paring, petty, chef, and cleaver sizes. The brand also was able to fulfill a long held dream of offering real American-made damascus! Using 416 layer steel, Whiteknuckler Brand’s classic designs are now available in truly unique and beautiful hand forged damascus.

Whiteknuckler Brand has continued to grow and evolve and launched its first ever folding knife in the fall of 2025.
Importantly, Whiteknuckler is more than just knives. Their belts (especially “CCW” style belts), wallets, wool blankets, and accessories are all designed under the same ethos of durability, practicality, and aesthetic consistency.
Looking forward to more American made
Today, Whiteknuckler occupies a respected niche — not mass-scale, but high integrity. Their product line continues to evolve while the core remains consistent: classic, durable goods made in the U.S.A.
In a globalized era of offshore manufacturing, Whiteknuckler’s choices are neither easy nor cheap. The brand stands behind its products and continually strives to offer the highest quality possible at prices that the average person can afford.
Like we always say, they don’t make things like they used to, but we do!
